So, after living in Korea for a month and a half, we have learned all about "adjumas." This is the term for a woman who, basically, is no longer young, cute and attractive. Technically, it is a middle-aged woman, but I don't think there is a specific age range for adjumas, it just depends on the woman. Adjumas are characerized as obnoxious and rude. It's very common to hear people muttering "adjuma" under their breath. Adjumas sometimes work, but sometimes they like to go shopping every day and crowd around all of the cheap stands outside the department stores, shoving people out of the way to find a good deal. They like to shove people out of elevators if the elevator is too full. They are just downright "unnice girls" (for all you die-hard Saved By the Bell fans out there). Here is a video that demonstrates the character of an adjuma. I hope it makes you laugh.

Yeah, I know! The crazy thing is that behavior like that is almost expected out of ajummas here! Oh, man, if it was me, I would have popped that lady!!
